March, and still no sign of spring!

This winter we have had a record breaking amount of snow. I can’t remember that we have had a winter like this before. In November and December we got loads of snow and then a couple of thaws. After Christmas it has been cold weather and almost constant snowing. No thawing at all! At least we have had some nice days lately with sunshine and some dripping from the roof in mid days. There are so much snow on the roof now and it’s heavy!

As usual this time of year I have started to sow. My tomato plants are about 6 inches tall and a bunch of flower seedlings needs to be replanted. Of course, I didn’t remember to bring some smaller pots in from the greenhouse before winter. Oh my! I really need them!

It was hard work to dig through all the snow to get to the greenhouse! I measured the snow depth and it’s about one meter of snow on the ground!

It’s hard to believe that I am moving my plants in to the greenhouse in about five to six weeks from now.

This is a picture from today and a picture from last year, two weeks earlier than now.

  1. Wow that is a lot of snow! Where I live I have never seen that much. The most I can remember was about 25 or so years ago it snowed about 2 feet and the power was out for over a week! Right now in North Carolina our weather can’t decide on Spring or Winter. We had about 3 inches of snow last week, it’s in the 60’s and 70’s (Fahrenheit) right now and they say we will get more snow next week. It’s frustrating! I want to get my garden started!

    • We almost always get a lot of snow during winter but this winter has been ridiculous. I’m sick and tired to sweep the snow off the car when going to work in the mornings. Hopefully this snowing period has ended now. Actually, the temperature is above freezing today, for the first time after Christmas. I hope some of the snow on the roof will come down today, we will see!

  2. I so love to visit your website Monica and haven’t done so in a long time. I’ve spent my morning reading the most recent posts and revisiting all of your old ones for the 3rd or 4th time :O). I’m sad to see that it has been many months since your last post. I hope all is well with you and your family. Take care and have a Happy New Year!

    • Hi Sharon, I’m sorry that I haven’t made any new posts lately. I really have no excuse other than I have not had much inspiration to write anything. I still do some crafting (mostly diamond painting) but there have not been much worth to show, I think.
I hope my inspiration soon will return because I feel a bit guilty for neglecting my website.
I wish you a Happy New Year!
